This week during research I had a few problems and several successes. I had issues finding background information on my author as his style of writing or any other of his short stories. The background of the journal my story was published in was fairly well-known and so I have had a lot of success finding useful information pertaining to this particular periodical. I am also interested in the social standings portrayed in ‘The Homeless Boy’ so I have been doing research on that, as well. I think it’s an interesting aspect of the story and of the characters. I plan on using social standings as the primary research in the introduction as well as whether or not this particular story was actually meant for children or for adults since it was published in a children’s periodical. I plan on doing research on the children v adult story by comparing this story to other children’s stories of the time. This is as far as I have gotten on my research.
